Part of Crystal Wood Trio, CRYSTAL PEATWOOD is made of PEAT OAK WOOD of 5th century b.‎C (radiocarbon dating)  with its live edges, preserved in EXTRACLEAR RESIN that fills the gaps completing the prism.‎ The legs are in BURNISHED STEEL and recalls the art of securely setting crystals into jewelry.‎ The natural wood surface is not covered by resin on the section planes since alcarol always use a selective wood coating with a matt natural effect.‎

The Crystal Wood Trio is inspired by the process of crystal formation and growth that extends in many directions and heights, with the aim to connect the organic shapes of wood with the rigid geometries of the minerals.‎ A special crystalline resin fill the gaps between the wood live edges completing the prisms and preserving their story.‎ The burnished steel bases recalls the art of securely setting crystals into jewelry.‎ The natural wood surface is not covered by resin on the section planes since alcarol always use a selective wood coating with a matt natural effect.‎

For the PEATLAND collection alcarol recovered some rare and unusual black trunks of Oak trees lain in a small Alpine peat, a natural ambient that protects the wood from normal decay over the millennia, increasing its hardness and gradually giving it a distinct dark brown to almost black color.‎

alcarol selects the most suitable trunks and cut the pieces preserving the natural eroded outer surface.‎ Then, the innovative transparent resin process is used to emphasize this precious fossil wood, resembling the peat water that has conserved them for millennia.‎ The natural wood surface it’s not covered by resin on the section planes, so you can touch the warm organic vibrancy of such an ancient material.‎
